An ion-trap quantum computer for Europe. Research project funded by the Quantum Technology Flagship

The AQTION project is coordinated by the University of Innsbruck. The project consortium includes leading research groups that have been pioneering recent advances in quantum information processing with trapped ions, laser development and optical design, as well as commercial leaders in the fields of laser technology, optical design, and computer architectures
More specifically, the consortium includes

  • 7 academic partners: the Universities of Innsbruck, Mainz, Oxford, and Complutense de Madrid, ETH Zurich, Forschungszentrum Jülich and Fraunhofer IOF
  • 3 industrial partners: TOPTICA Photonics AG, Bull SAS, AKKA DSW GmbH
